Sri A.V. Sundaram, Nadi Astrologer (Mechanical Engineer, HAL & IIT Madras)
Sri A.V. Sundaram was not only my Nadi Guru but also a father-like figure in my life. He was a brilliant Nadi Astrologer with the utmost respect for all types of Astrology and Occult studies. Other than Nadi Astrology, he also had magnificent predictive and teaching skills in Hindu Astrology and Jamini Astrology. He was born in Madras and was a Tamil Brahmin. He spent his last phase of life living in Secunderabad, Telangana. By Profession, he was a Mechanical Engineer. He worked at HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) and taught at IIT Madras. He spent his life with his spouse Smt. Kasi Sundaram, his children, and grandchildren. He was also serving as a head priest at a Sai Baba Temple. Sri A.V. Sundaram suffered a myocardial infarction in the early hours of April 26, 2021, and he took his last breath around 2.00 AM. He was 81 years old. Just two days after his sudden demise, his wife, Smt. Kasi Sundaram, whom I used to call “Amma,” also passed away.
Sri A.V. Sundaram: A 40 Years of Journey in Hindu and Nadi Astrology
Sri A.V. Sundaram was born in 1939 in a Tamil Brahmin family, and he was a divine soul full of blessings to and for all. During one of his visits to Delhi, he attended a lecture by Sri M.C. Jain, which inspired him to explore Astrology. During his 40+ years of experience in Hindu and Nadi Astrology, he had worked closely with Sri C.S. Patel, Sri B.V. Raman, and Sri Iranganti Rangacharya. He was one of the founding members and the National Joint Secretary of the Indian Council of Astrological Sciences (ICAS). During his Nadi lectures, he always credited Sri C.S. Patel as a rare gem of a person for his sincerity towards Hindu Astrology and sharing his knowledge with everyone without keeping anything secret or confidential.
Sri C.S. Patel’s Motivation to Sri A.V. Sundaram
Sri A.V. Sundaram always credited Sri C.S. Patel for motivating him to pursue research in Nadi Astrology as Sri A.V. Sundaram was born and brought up in Tamil Nadu and was aware of the ancient Tamil Script. The majority of the Nadi Astrology text is in the Tamil script. When he was running under the Mahadasha of Sun, he also had a chance to read his own Nadi Leaves somewhere in Tamil Nadu.
Sri A.V. Sundaram and Bhrigu Bindu
It was Sri A.V. Sundaram who had coined the term Bhrigu Bindu. He coined this term during his collaborative research in Nadi Astrology with Sri C.S. Patel. Later, Sri C.S. Patel had introduced Bhrigu Bindu to the world through his book Predicting Through Navamsha & Nadi Astrology. Today, many modern-day astrologers use Bhrigu Bindu to predict auspicious and inauspicious events in a natal horoscope.
My Association with Sri A.V. Sundaram Sir
Personally, it had always been a pleasure to meet or speak with him. To me, he was an ocean full of Sacred Knowledge on Astrology. I came in touch with Sri A.V. Sundaram in March 2017 for the first time when I had organized a Nadi Learning batch where he came in to teach us Nadi Astrology. Since then, daily, he used to send a Good Morning message with his blessings to me. I was lucky to head his Delhi group, which he named NADI [Nadi Astrology Delhi I (Chapter)]. It was always a delightful experience to learn from him not just about Hindu Astrology and Nadi Astrology but also about Human Life, Karma, Dharma, Values, and Religion.
I miss you dearly, Sir.
