Moorti Nirnaya: A Traditional and Authentic Approach to Check Planetary Transit Results

There are various methods to judge how a transit of planet(s) will impact an individual, and Moorti Nirnaya is one of them, which is especially popular in Northern India. The Moorti Nirnaya or Moorthy Nirnaya technique is used with reference to the natal position of the Moon in a native’s birth chart. There are four types of Moorti, which are Swarn (Gold), Rajat (Silver), Tamra (Copper), Loha (Iron).
The auspiciousness of Moorti is in the descending order starting from Swarn to Loha listed below.
- Swarn is tremendously favourable.
- Rajat is favourable.
- Tamra is average.
- Loha is unfavourable.
Here’s the 3 step method for Moorthy Nirnaya or Moorti Nirnaya listed below that you can use to check if the transit of planet(s) will be auspicious for you based on your birth chart.
- Note Janma Rashi i.e., the sign where the Moon is placed on the birth chart. For example, if in someone’s birth chart, Moon is posited in Taurus, then the Janma Rashi of that native is Taurus or Vrishbha.
- Choose a transiting planet for which predictions to be made. For example, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Rahu, etc.
- Note the transiting position of the Moon on the day when the chosen planet enters a new sign with reference to your Natal Moon (Janma Rashi).
Transit Results
- If the transiting Moon is in any of the 1st, 6th, or 11th houses from the Natal Moon (Janma Rashi) it will be Swarn (Golden) Moorti.
- When the Moon transits through any of the 2nd, 5th, or 9th houses from the Natal Moon (Janma Rashi) it will be Rajat (Silver) Moorti.
- If the Moon is transiting through any of the 3rd, 7th, or 10th houses from the Natal Moon (Janma Rashi) it will be Tamra (Copper) Moorti.
- When the Moon transits through any of the 4th, 8th, or 12th houses from the Natal Moon (Janma Rashi) it will be Loha (Iron) Moorti.
Examples of Moorti Nirnaya or Moorthy Nirnaya
Let’s take an example of a recent transit and its results based on Moorti Nirnaya or Moorthy Nirnaya for all 12 signs of the zodiac. On 20 November 2020, Jupiter entered the Capricorn sign at 12:41:55 hours (IST), when Moon was also present in the Capricorn sign (see the chart below).
- For people with Aries (Mesha) moon sign or Janma Rashi, the Moon was transiting through the 10th house from their Natal Moon, thereby it shows Tamra Moorti. Therefore, Jupiter’s current transit in the Capricorn sign will give Average results to people having the Aries (Mesha) moon sign.
- For people having Taurus (Vrishbha) moon sign or Janma Rashi, the Moon was transiting through the 9th house from their Natal Moon, thereby it shows Rajat Moorti. Therefore, Jupiter’s current transit in the Capricorn sign will give Favourable results to people having Taurus (Vrishbha) moon sign.
